How can I show EU customers the full landed cost at checkout after these changes?

To provide transparency and reduce checkout abandonment, you need to calculate and display the total landed cost. This includes:

  • Item price + shipping.
  • EU VAT (which you may collect via IOSS).
  • The €3 customs duty per item category (for goods ≤ €150).
  • The €2 handling fee per item category + VAT on that fee (from 1 Nov 2026).

Many e-commerce platforms and checkout apps are developing tools for this. You must ensure your system can itemize products correctly for duty and fee calculation per declaration line. Consult your platform’s documentation or a solution provider specializing in cross-border trade.
