What is the EU Customs Data Hub, and when will it affect me as a seller?

Answer from EUCBT Editors · reviewed

The EU Customs Data Hub is the central EU customs data system created by the customs reform adopted on 16 September 2026.

For e-commerce sellers, it becomes mandatory from 1 July 2028. From that date, platforms and sellers will be expected to act as ‘importers for distance sales’ and interact with this system. It aims to streamline processes but will require technical integration. The Hub will open to other businesses voluntarily in 2031 and become mandatory for all traders by 1 March 2034.
